Oscar Andreas Haug is a Norwegian trumpeter and composer known for his unique expression and technical skills.
He is particularly recognized for his exploration of microtonality, where he uses a trumpet adapted to Arabic music, which divides the octave into 24 notes instead of the traditional 12. This gives him the opportunity to create subtle and nuanced sounds that enrich his music.
Haug has been an active participant in the Norwegian jazz community and has been involved in several projects. After completing his studies at the jazz department in Trondheim and the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen, he is currently active in several musical projects, including the Bliss Quintet, the Tuva Halse Quintet and Amalie Dahls Dafnie.
In 2024, Haug collaborated with the Danish jazz trio Little North on the album "While You Wait", where his lyrical trumpet playing was highlighted as a perfect match with the trio's warm and telepathic interaction.
Haug has also been involved in international projects, such as the album "Xanthic Tales" with pianist Margaux Oswald and drummer Axel Filip, where they explore microtonality and free improvisation. He is also a part of the highly awarded and recognized Estonian production «Rahamaa», where he plays the Music of Maria Faust.
